Your self-exclusion is a statutory obligation under the National Gambling Act, not a voluntary undertaking from operators.

NGA Section 14

Any person may apply to the National Gambling Board for registration on the National Register of Self-Excluded Persons, in force since 1 August 2004.

Duty

NGA Section 26(1)(b)

Every licensed operator is legally required to refuse a registered self-excluded person. Non-compliance by an operator is a criminal offence.

POPIA Act 4 of 2013

In full effect since 1 July 2021. Your information is never disclosed to operators beyond an anonymised BLOCKED or CLEAR signal. Confidential by design.

FMSA's role is limited to submitting your application on your instruction. FMSA does not process, advise on, or facilitate the upliftment or cancellation of a self-exclusion. Upliftment applications must be made directly to the National Gambling Board once the full exclusion period has elapsed.
